<p>The hill fortress of Grianán Ailigh, in Ireland's County Donegal, dates back many centuries. Some believe that the original hill fort was built by Ireland's ancient gods; it's more likely that it was built in the first centuries after Christ. In its heyday (the eighth through eleventh centuries), this ringfort was controlled by the southern Uí Néills. Saint Patrick is believed to have visited the fortress in 450 A.D.</p>

British Airways Cabin Crews to Strike
<p>According to <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8563728.stm">BBC News</a>, British Airways' cabin crew union has announced that it will go on strike strike twice this month. The dates of the strikes are March 20 - 22 and March 27 - 30, 2010.</p>

Stones of Ancient Ireland

How Safe Is Your Tour Bus?

The bus in last week's accident was operating illegally, according to the <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/about/news/news-releases/2010/phoenix-bus-crash.aspx">Department of Transportation</a>. Although the carrier, Tierra Santa, had been told by the Department of Transportation that its passenger carrier application had been turned down, the company continued to operate.</p>

The Department of Transportation makes interstate motor carrier safety information available to the traveling public, and you can <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://seniortravel.about.com/od/transportationoptions/f/BusSafeth.htm">check your bus operator's passenger safety record online</a>.</p>

Arriving at an Airport Near You: Full-Body Scanners

<p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://www.cnn.com/2010/TRAVEL/03/05/body.scanners.airports/index.html?hpt=T2">CNN</a> is reporting that the first full-body scanners purchased under the economic stimulus plan of 2009 will be installed at Boston's Logan Airport this week. By the end of this summer, 11 U.S. airports will receive full-body scanners.</p>
<p><a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://seniortravel.about.com/od/seniortravelbasics/f/WholeBody.htm">Full-body scanning</a>, also called <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://seniortravel.about.com/od/seniortravelbasics/f/WholeBody.htm">whole-body imaging</a>, is a screening method that allows security officials to see through all the layers of clothing a passenger wears. The process is controversial because it enables security screeners to see images of unclothed passengers.</p>
<p>The Transportation Security Administration offers air travelers an alternative to passing through the full-body scanners. Anyone uncomfortable with the scanning process can request a physical pat-down instead.</p>

Would You Pay a Hotel Resort Fee?
<p>Yesterday I booked a hotel room for an event I'm attending later this year. As I read the "fine print" on the reservation screen, I realized that the hotel would also charge me a "<a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://seniortravel.about.com/od/accommodations/qt/ResortFees.htm">resort fee</a>" of $10 per day, which would cover fitness center access, a daily newspaper, two bottles of water, local calls (20 minutes per day), toll-free and credit card calls and internet access.</p>
<p>Didn't some of those things used to be free? It doesn't cost the hotel anything to allow me to use my own telephone credit card, so why am I paying for the privilege? And what if I don't use the fitness center or drink the water? Can I ask the hotel to take these charges off my bill?</p>
<p>Perhaps. Resort fee charges vary from hotel to hotel; some charge $5, some charge $20 and some don't charge anything at all. Hotel resort fee policies are equally variable. Some hotels will remove the resort fee from your bill and others will not.</p>
